Get ready to achieve real professional edges in seconds with our revolutionary Modüla™ sharpening system. Say goodbye to gimmicky pull-through sharpeners that only harm your knife's cutting edge by removing too much metal for only temporary sharpness. Our 3 stage diamond-coated Modüla™ sharpening system is the real deal, designed to fulfill your knife sharpening dreams.
Crafted from spring steel with different grits of industrial diamond coating, our Modüla™ sharpener ensures an ultra-sharp cutting edge for all your Modüla™ knives or any Western style symmetrical blade (all blades except serrated or traditional Japanese chisel edge).
Its simplistic one-piece design makes it incredibly easy to use, delivering the perfect edge with every pass-through. Whether you're a professional chef or a home cook, this sharpener is perfect for all cooks. Now everyone can achieve professional results without needing advanced skills or spending excessive time.
Why is this a ‘professional edge’? Like traditional methods like waterstones or wet steels, our sharpener generates the same microscopic ‘micro saw’ edge because the swiping motion is the same. Unlike traditional methods, Modula diamond-coated sharpener tines eliminate human error in setting the bevel angles, so you actually achieve a more accurate edge than experts using traditional methods. (Humans aren’t robots, so there is always human error in manual sharpening!)
Featuring three stages, our Modula sharpening system covers every sharpening need:
Most chefs and home cooks will need the 1000 grit medium sharpener and 2000 grit fine honer for knives already in good condition.
For anyone wanting to restore old worn, blunt blades, our 400 grit coarse regrind Modula sharpening head is ideal for rapidly and accurately regrinding your worn blade to perfect 15 degree bevels, ready for sharpening and honing with the other two Modula stages (1000 grit followed by 2000 grit for everyday razor sharp edge maintenance).
Experience sharper edges more perfectly, easily, and quickly than ever before with our Modüla™ sharpening system. Say hello to effortless knife maintenance and impeccable cutting performance.
Assess the Condition of Your Knife: Determine if your knife is in good condition and thin at the cutting edge, very worn and thick, or somewhere in between. Look for signs of dullness, rounded edges, or wear. Eg. pushing down with too much force, squashing tomatoes or slipping off hard vegetables is a good sign you need a regrind.
Choose the ideal Modula stages based on the condition of your knife:
Worn and blunt: For very worn blades that require reshaping and restoration, opt for the 400 grit Modular sharpener. This coarse grit quickly removes old, rounded material and establishes 15-degree bevels on each side. This ‘regrind’ stage is very coarse, so needs to be followed by the 1000 grit sharpener and 2000 grit hone for true pro results.
Good, but not very sharp: This is your go to 'workhorse' sharpener head. If your knives are in good condition and need regular sharpening for ‘rough everyday use’, the 1000 grit modular sharpener is amazing. It leaves knives with a slightly ‘toothy’ sharp edge for everyday tasks, and particularly excels at tough and hard cutting, but is not as finely honed as the 2000 grit sharpener for the finest slicing.
Opt for Razor-Sharp Edges: For knives that require razor-sharp edges (how we prefer most blades!), choose the 2000 grit modular sharpener. This fine grit quickly hones the edge of your knives to perfection, leaving them razor-sharp and ready for precision cutting.
When you need all Three Sharpener Heads: If you're transitioning from very worn knives to razor-sharp ones, regrinding first with the 400 grit coarse Modula sharpener, you will need to use all three sharpener heads in sequence. Start with the 400 grit sharpener for reshaping, followed by the 1000 grit sharpener for everyday sharpening, and finish with the 2000 grit sharpener for fine honing.
Choose Based on Personal Preference: Ultimately, the choice of sharpener head depends on your specific needs and preferences. Whether you're restoring old worn knives, looking for everyday sharpness, or finely-honed precision cutting, the modular sharpening system offers every option to suit your requirements.
Permanent Screw Mounting: This is a good option if you would like to leave your sharpeners always ready to go on your workshop or kitchen counter top, cutting board, or any other object. Simply screw down through the 4 heart-shaped holes in the base, or the 2 larger key holes, into any wood surface or custom handle of your preference.
Keyhole Screw Mounting: One simple and effective mounting option is to use a single screw mounted in the corner of a cutting board. The keyhole slot on the sharpener head can be directly dropped over the screw head, allowing for quick and convenient sharpening. An added bonus is that the Modula sharpener head pivots from the screw head and adjusts for any error in your blade angle, fore and aft. After use, simply slide off the screw head to remove the sharpener head and store it in a drawer.
Bamboo Case Mounting: Another practical option is to utilize the bamboo case that the Solidteknics Modula knives come in. The case features two screw heads mounted at the end, where the Modula sharpener clips can be attached directly via the 2 keyhole slots in the sharpener sides. This setup allows for sharpening while holding onto the bamboo case as a long and stable handle. Once sharpening is complete, unhook your Modula head from the screws and store it in a drawer.
Trilobite Handle: For those seeking a permanent solution, the Trilobite handle offers a complete sharpener in one unit. Named after the ancient sea fossil, this handle is precision die-cast in Australia from aluminium alloy. It features rubber feet underneath to ensure stability during use. Simply pull out the Trilobite handle, sharpen your knife, and then store it away securely. You can leave a single stage Modula sharpener screwed onto the Trilobite handle, or quickly hook any Modula stage onto the keyhole pivot pin, just like screw mounts on cutting boards, then just as quickly unhook and store the sharpener heads after use.
With these mounting options, you can choose the method that best suits your preferences and kitchen or workshop workspace for fast, efficient, and convenient knife sharpening.
Effortless Precision: With a simplistic one-piece design, our Modüla™ Sharpening System is incredibly easy to use. Follow these simple steps to achieve razor-sharp edges with every pass:
Select the appropriate sharpening head: Choose from the 400 grit head for quickly reshaping the bevels of old worn blades, the 1000 grit head for everyday knives, or the 2000 grit head for razor-sharp slicing edges.
Mount the sharpening system: Whether you prefer a portable solution or a permanent fixture, our sharpening system offers versatile mounting options. Mount it to your cutting board, bamboo case, or opt for the Trilobite handle for a complete sharpening unit.
Swipe with precision: Hold your knife roughly vertical and swipe down and back through the sharpening system. The diamond-coated hinged tines are precisely engineered to maintain accurate sharpening angles and deliver professional results with every pass.
Versatile Performance: Whether you're maintaining your Solidteknics Modüla™ knives or any symmetrical double bevel knife, our 3 stage sharpening system has got you covered. Experience the precision and ease of the Modüla™ Sharpening System and achieve real pro edges in seconds, more accurately than a pro with years of experience.

With significant use, the diamond coating will wear down. However, the benefit of our diamond coatings is once this occurs, you're still left with a super fine honer, just like a traditional whetsteel (the smooth round rod usually left untouched in knife block sets), though with more accuracy. Even when worn, they're multi-functional.
No, we don't recommend this. As the blades of our purist Söliditi™ knives are single-bevel, they need to be hand-sharpened using whetstones (like our InversionEdge™ Sharpening System) to maintain their single-bevel edge.
Yes, you can use your Modüla™ Sharpener heads to sharpen any Western-style knife! Just ensure you are using the correct rocking motion, and you'll be able to get a pro edge on any of your existing symmetrical knife blades.
While Japanese water stones are said to give the finest results, this method is tricky and overkill to achieve Western symmetrical edges for most cooks. Our Modula sharpener isn't a drag-through tool. It's designed to be used with a motion that replicates a swipe across a stone while removing human error.
The diamonds on our Modula sharpener are very fine and act as the perfect companion to our Modula knife. The angles are perfect for maintaining the exceptionally sharp nature of our blades.
