Patches and Scratches Are Okay!

Back

We're here to tell you that patches and scratches are perfectly okay on your seasoned iron pans!

Patchy AUS-ION pan cooking asparagus - still perfect

Would you believe us if we told you that this scratched pan is safe and healthy to cook in? Well... it is!

Many people who are new to cooking with seasoned iron get concerned when their AUS-ION™ pans begin to lose their dark, even colour. This concern would be warranted if you were cooking on a synthetic-coated non-stick pan. But you have nothing to worry about because our non-toxic cookware is entirely free from all coatings, like harmful PFAS (and PFOA and PTFE).

Uneven patches and scratches are very normal (and actually expected) for naturally seasoned wrought iron and cast iron cookware! They are designed to be lifelong workhorses, after all.

What Matters Most is How Your Pans Cook, Not How They Look!

With no synthetic coatings, our AUS-ION™ pans are simply raw iron that has been seasoned with oil. The appearance of our healthy cookware will continue to change and develop the more you cook.
