German Apple Cake

Recipe shared by Sandra, one of our Solid Lovers ❤️ Baked in our AUS-ION™ 30cm BIGGA Skillet. The perfect afternoon tea apple cake!

Ingredients

  • 75g butter
  • 125g sugar
  • Vanilla essence
  • 1 egg (or egg replacer equivalent)
  • Lemon zest
  • Pinch of salt
  • 250g self-raising flour
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 3–4 apples, peeled, cored and scored (for topping)
  • Icing sugar mixed with mixed spice and/or cinnamon, to dust

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C.
  2. With electric beaters or a stand mixer, cream together the butter and sugar.
  3. Add vanilla, egg, lemon zest and salt, and beat until combined.
  4. Add flour and milk, beat until you have a smooth cake batter.
  5. Pour into a greased Solidteknics pan of choice.
  6. Top with apples (peeled, cored, and scored), and bake for 45 minutes.
  7. Mix icing sugar with mixed spice and/or cinnamon. Serve straight from the pan, or allow to cool, turn out onto a rack, and dust with icing sugar mix.
