At Solidteknics, we are committed to world-leading innovations. Our cookware contains no toxic, synthetic coatings that will harm your health or the planet. Our pans are crafted in Australia from a single sheet of the finest quality wrought iron or ferritic, non-nickel stainless steel and contain no rivets or welds that might fail.
Our pans possess a healthy, forever-renewable surface that can be enjoyed for generations. We lovingly season our AUS-ION™ range for your convenience the old-fashioned way, connecting you to the rich tradition and history of cooking.
Unlike commonly applied synthetic coatings, seasoning is a natural process that you can continue to top up at home and build by cooking regularly with fats and oils. In fact, building your own seasoning is the only way to achieve a natural, non-toxic, non-stick surface.
Find out why Solidteknics say no to plastic cookware!
Our AUS-ION™ wrought iron pans are made from Aussie iron, and our nöni™ ferritic stainless steel range is non-nickel. Both are healthy and highly durable cookware designed to be workhorses for generations.
The Solidteknics wrought AUS-ION™ 'Quenched' range comes pre-seasoned and ready for you to cook with. We have patented a new way to season iron that heavily reduces pollution. We do this by instantly dropping a very hot pan into the vat of the right oil; you get a pan that's 'Quenched' and ready to cook right out of the bag! We choose to season our pans with non-GMO rice bran oil, which has a high smoke point.
For those who want the freedom to season themselves from the get-go, we offer AUS-ION RAW. Like our nöni™ ferritic stainless steel range, these pans don't go through the shot-blasting and seasoning process; instead their surface remains smooth and bare. Unlike 'Quenched', this range requires some keying to rough the surface slightly to prepare for a strong initial oven season. However, RAW typically results in a smoother texture, even once seasoned. This smoothness is why some iron cookware enthusiasts prefer our RAW pans over Quenched.

Your pan's patina (seasoning) is not a static feature but a dynamic one that evolves with each cook, making it a forever-renewable asset. It's the gold standard of non-stick cooking and one you can be proud of. This natural seasoning occurs when fats and oils polymerize during cooking, forming a protective layer on the surface of your iron pan. Your patina or 'seasoning' often turns dark (which is why pan blemishes in iron shouldn't deter you—it's a sign your pan is maturing and seasoning is developing).
There are so many benefits of a naturally achieved patina over synthetic coating. Your patina is a natural surface coating that can be forever built upon by cooking regularly with the right fats and oils. You can top up your pan's seasoning whenever needed. As your seasoning develops, it provides exceptional, easy-release properties, protects against corrosion, and enhances the flavour of your cooking. Trust us, you will taste the difference!
Due to health concerns, non-stick synthetic coated pans have been under investigation in recent years. We outline the dangers in more detail here. Unlike our cookware, synthetic-coated pans degrade quickly, are incompatible with more sustainable metal cooking utensils, and leach plastic into your food.
Synthetic-coated pans can sometimes dazzle with their surface-level appeal, but these are toxic and temporary cookware solutions that all too soon end up in landfills. Once you cook with our AUS-ION™ pans regularly using plenty of fats and oils, you'll develop a hardy seasoning, and their surface will never look the same as when they first arrived. Please remember this is a good thing! (It's all about performance, not looks.)
Due to the health risks associated with synthetic-coated pans, many people have developed a fear of scratches and blemishes on their cookware. This fear is justified, given the rapid degradation and plastic leaching of synthetic coatings. With our AUS-ION™ pans, you can cook with confidence, knowing that their surface is perpetually renewable and free from toxic coatings.
To solidify that, we don't add synthetic coatings to our pans (check out the image below). As you can see, this is a new, freshly seasoned AUS-ION™ pan with a small unseasoned patch. There are no toxic coatings to scratch off - just clean Aussie, seasoned iron. This is what a healthy pan should look like!
As long as you're cooking with Solidteknics pans, you have nothing to fear—we do not coat our pans with plastic. If you notice any black specs in your food or after wiping your pan, this is likely old food residue that has carbonised. You can avoid this by cleaning your pan correctly after use and maintaining your seasoning. If you notice black specs, this can easily be remedied by giving your pan a light scrub and following up with a quick stovetop seasoning.
It's time to say goodbye to synthetic non-stick pans that harm our health and the environment. While synthetic coatings may seem convenient, they can't match the enduring quality and performance of a naturally seasoned pan. Boost your cooking experience with AUS-ION™ now and build a natural seasoning to be proud of!
