All-rounder with a premium edge. A 17cm Modüla™ Santoku in Japanese VG-10 Damascus steel on a tough, Aussie-made handle.
Australia
The 17cm Santoku is part of the Modüla™ modular knife system by Solidteknics — a premium Japanese VG-10 Damascus steel blade paired with a tough, Australian-made handle. The Santoku is the all-purpose Japanese chef's knife: a tall, flat-profiled blade that slices, dices and chops vegetables, fish and boneless meat with clean push-cuts and easy scooping off the board.
VG-10 is one of the famous premium Japanese knife steels — a harder alloy (around HRC60) that takes and holds a finer, longer-lasting edge, wrapped here in layered Damascus for a distinctive rippled finish. The trade-off for the sharper edge is that harder steel can chip if mistreated, so it rewards careful use and regular honing.
Each Modüla™ knife is built around a precisely fitted handle and a tapered internal tang for a rock-solid, well-balanced feel. The blade and handle can be separated for servicing with the included key, but this isn't needed in normal use — assembled, it performs like a premium fixed-handle knife. Each knife comes with a dedicated bamboo storage board to protect the edge, and is sharpened with the Modüla™ diamond pass-through sharpener (sold separately).
Hand wash and dry immediately — never put fine kitchen knives in the dishwasher. Hone regularly and sharpen as needed to protect the fine VG-10 edge.
Modüla™ pairs premium Japanese steel with a tough, Australian-made handle in a precisely engineered, well-balanced knife — supplied with a bamboo storage board and built to be sharpened and kept for years, not thrown away.
