Tips & Tricks for getting started with your Söliditi™ knives

Before use, have a read through our below top tips for getting the best out of your new Söliditi™ carbon steel knives. These are not your run-of-the-mill knives, and require a little extra care to help maintain their razor sharp edge. But don't worry, just like our iron pans, it'll quickly become second nature and you'll reap the benefits for many many years to come.

  • Over time, your knife will develop a greyish-blue patina – this is very normal and a good thing! A patina works as a 'seal' and will help to protect your knife from rust. Just like our AUS-ION™ pans, your patina will develop and darken over time with use. Think of the patina as your knife's personal history!
  • Give your knife a thorough wash and dry before its first use.
  • Hand wash only using warm, soapy water.
  • After each use, wash and dry immediately to prevent rusting.
  • To help fast track the patina and protect from rusting, rub all over with your preferred food-safe oil before storing.
  • To maintain the knife's sharpness and chisel edge, we recommend having it professionally sharpened or use our InversionEdge Sharpening System.
  • Store in a safe and secure place, preferably in a knife block, magnetic strip, or protective sheath.
  • Avoid cutting on hard surfaces such as granite or glass, and avoid cutting through bones, frozen food or extremely dense items. These things can damage the knife's cutting edge.

Proper care and maintenance of your Söliditi™ knife will help preserve its performance and extend its lifespan.
